Pork Pie – A Harvest Favorite

Every year as harvest winds down I have to recalibrate my cooking with the rest of my life. Our last harvest dinner was Saturday night. It was pretty festive with lots of wine of course, and laughing and singing late into the night. Sunday was the perfect day for doing not much more than lazing […]

An Impromptu Very Veggie Lasagna

We’re still in harvest mode over here and I’m still cooking dinner – and sometimes lunch too – every night for our crew. It’s about 12-18 people each day, depending on the various comings and goings. As you can imagine, it’s a big production – a lot of work but a lot of fun too. […]

Late Summer Tomato Bread Pudding

I wrote this last week and now that everyone is back to school, I realize that I never got around to hitting publish. Here you go. It has been one busy summer around here. We’ve been hurtling from one winery-related event to the next; our oldest son graduated from high school, worked two jobs and […]

My New Favorite Coleslaw and My Son’s Graduation

My oldest child graduated from high school last week.   A month or so ago, a friend who runs the Health & Wellness program at our local college reached out to a handful of her friends who are avid cooks and asked if they would be interested in teaching a class for college students. The theme would be creating meals that are nutritious, simple […]

Hello!

Hi, I'm Maria. My husband and I own a winery in downtown McMinnville, the heart of Oregon's spectacular Willamette Valley.

Lucky for me I get to cook for the people I love, throw parties and pour a little Pinot. Nothing makes me happier than gathering people around my table and serving them food that nourishes both body and soul.

People often tell me that I'm living their dream life. And truthfully, I'm living mine too.

But let's be real, it's still life.
