Hatch Chili Crustless Quiche

May 13, 2018 Maria Stuart Leave a Comment

Print Recipe Hatch Chili Crustless Quiche This is actually my mom’s recipe, though she didn’t use Hatch chilis. She just used those mild green chilis you find in a can in the Mexican section of the grocery store. If you don’t have Hatch chilis on hand, those will certainly do, as would some roasted Poblano […]

Mussels in Red Wine

Print Recipe Mussels in Red Wine I love mussels and really should cook them at home more. They’re fast, economical and good for you. What’s not to like? Also, contrary to popular belief, you most certainly can serve red wine with fish. This dish is a perfect example. We were pleasantly surprised when we realized […]

Lost and Found, Café Azul’s Tinga Pie {Recipe}

  Cafe Azul. Just the name brings back such festive and delicious memories. Years ago, it must have been about 1996, two sisters named Shawna and Claire Archibald opened Cafe Azul in downtown McMinnville. Claire was the chef and Shawna ran the front of the house. Claire trained with Diana Kennedy, that legendary cookbook writer […]

Elegant Winter Comfort Food – Beef Stroganoff {Recipe}

As I sit here at my desk, sunshine is pouring through the window and warming my back. It feels lovely after getting up especially early this morning – it was so cold and dark. We’re having a pretty mild winter here in the Willamette Valley (sorry my midwest and east coast people), but let’s not […]

Happy Birthday, Mom! Here are your Barbara-isms, with love

My mom passed away last year. She was an amazing woman who lived a long and rich life.  Today would have been her 90th birthday (and she wouldn’t like that I’m telling you that!) She had been in hospice care for three months, and I’m grateful that we were all able to spend time with […]

Hello!

Hi, I'm Maria. My husband and I own a winery in downtown McMinnville, the heart of Oregon's spectacular Willamette Valley.

Lucky for me I get to cook for the people I love, throw parties and pour a little Pinot. Nothing makes me happier than gathering people around my table and serving them food that nourishes both body and soul.

People often tell me that I'm living their dream life. And truthfully, I'm living mine too.

But let's be real, it's still life.
